Sneaky Temptations - Tentaciones furtivas

The thorn plant
La planta de espinas
Today I would like to talk about how sneaky temptations can be through a metaphor. All across the area I am serving in, there are these thorns that get stuck in our bike tires. They had caused 4 flat tires between me and my previous companion. Only this week did I learn where they were coming from. There is a plant that just looks like a sort of ivy-weed. It has pretty little yellow flowers but, hidden between the simplicity, are nasty thorns. Since we had not learned to recognize them yet, we were biking along and decided to turn down a side street. Little did we know, it was full of these thorns. We began riding and stopped to see our tires completely covered in thorns. Even though we had taken some precautions of having slime in our tires, the thorns were too many and we ended up with three flat tires that were beyond repair. Some people tried to help us but, to no avail. We were forced to walk and return our bikes to our home before we could continue on our course.
Three flat tires
Tres ruedos que no funcionan

Many times we think we are safe because we have necessary precautions to avoid being tempted by the Devil but, when we put ourselves into situations that are full of "thorns" we can be overcome. We need to continually stand in holy places and strive to keep the Holy Ghost with us to guide us.
